West Bromwich Albion fans have reacted online after manager Valerien Ismael revealed some updates on the squad’s current fitness concerns.

Journalist Joe Chapman reported in Birmingham Live what he heard in Ismael’s press conference ahead of the Baggies Carabao Cup tie against Arsenal.

He confirmed that Matt Clarke will be injured for around six weeks, while two unnamed first-team players have had to enter self-isolation.

Ismael said: “We received yesterday the information that he will miss a lot of games – five to six weeks. We need to deal with the situation. It’s bad news for us, but it is what it is.”

Chapman shared a thread on Twitter surmising the information and it soon drew a response from many West Brom supporters.

What did these West Brom fans say?

“Damn this is a big blow.”

“Suddenly our small squad is looking even smaller. Come on WBA get the chequebook out!”

“The season was fun while it lasted #wba.”
“Noooo.”
“Not good news then.”
“Oh dear. The depth of a paper-thin squad about to be exposed…”

The Baggies have made a promising start to life back in the Championship, winning three of their opening four league games and drawing the other.

These results currently have them sitting second (behind Fulham on goal difference) in the table. No doubt, fans will be delighted to see their team in an automatic promotion spot – though, of course, there is a long way to go in the season just yet.

However, it looks as though their supporters fear the reported fitness concerns could expose their team in the coming weeks.
