Celtic fans have been reacting to claims surrounding the future of defender Kristoffer Ajer amid reports that he is on his way to Brentford.

Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas has claimed that the Norwegian defender is deep in the process of completing his move to the newly-promoted side in a £13.5m move having completed his medical.

The 23-year-old has been at the club since 2016 and has gone on to make 176 appearances for the Bhoys in all competitions, during what has been a very successful time at the club.

But it looks as if the club are looking to cash in this summer, in a deal that would be one of the more lucrative sales that the club have made by shipping him out to the west London side, perhaps as a way to offer new boss Ange Postecoglou some money to allow him to get the team that he wants for his debut season.

Celtic fans, can you get 8/8 on this quiz on forgotten players? First up: who is this?

And when Thomas relayed the news on his social media page, there were a number of fans that were on hand to react to the news, with a range of emotions on show:

“Good player, but he’s not a defender.”

“Has to be one of our most lucrative out the door deals based on circumstances”
“Should’ve cashed in on him and Edouard last year for 20m+ each. Dragging our heels with them both”
“Good player done great at us feel he can go onto far bigger things than Brentford. No offence”
“Hopefully we now go and sign Starfelt and a right back”
“Potentially a great player. Not the next VVD, but a loss to Celtic nonetheless. Hope he does well down there.”

Will Celtic regret selling Ajer?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

Now we’ll just wait and see if they can reinvest that money wisely as they attempt to hunt down Rangers having been left so far behind them last season.
