Celtic fans have been reacting to claims that they could be in line to sign former England international Joe Hart.

The goalkeeper position is certainly something that is in a state of flux at the moment at Celtic Park, as last season the position was split between the likes of Vasilis Barkas, Scott Bain and Conor Hazard all getting their share of minutes between the sticks.

Celtic fans, can you get 8/8 on this quiz on forgotten players? First up: who is this?

Meanwhile, in their only competitive game so far this season, Barkas didn’t exactly cover himself in glory when it came to FC Midtjylland’s equaliser during the Hoops’ Champions League qualifier.

So it’s no surprise to see that the club could be looking at bringing in another option, with noted transfer insider Fabrizio Romano tweeting that Celtic and Tottenham Hotspur have ‘opened talks’ over a potential move north of the border for the 34-year-old.

It was a move though that Celtic fans didn’t seem too happy to hear, though, as they slammed the suggestion when they read it online:

“Thanks, I hate it!!!”

“Not sure this is a great idea.”
“Thank Fabrizio, it’s good to start the day with a bit of comedy. Tell us the real ‘keeper we are trying to sign?”
“Please don’t let this be true about Joe Hart”
“Joe Hart is not the player we need or want for whatever price they are asking.”
“Oh no, it’s real”
“We really haven’t sorted out the goalkeeper since Forster left the first time and this is not it. This is literally just signing a name.”

Should Celtic sign Joe Hart?

Given the decline in his career recently after spending a long time as England’s number one, you can certainly understand why they might be hesitant about signing Hart.
