Celtic fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest update concerning the potential signing of Rubin Kazan defender Carl Starfelt.

This comes after Celtic-focused Twitter account @aboutceltic shared a post on their page relaying comments made by Rubin Kazan director Oleg Yarovinsky cited by Sportbox (via 67HailHail).

Celtic fans, can you get 8/8 on this quiz on forgotten players? First up: who is this?

Yarovinsky claimed that Starfelt “has not yet moved to Celtic,” but that they are negotiating with the Parkhead club.

He also added that “until the documents are signed, the transfer hasn’t taken place.”

This post then gathered a lot of replies from Celtic fans who were not shy in sharing their thoughts on this latest development.

So, what did these Celtic fans have to say in response to Yarovinsky’s comments on Starfelt’s potential move to Parkhead?

“This will turn into another soap opera.”

@PaddyBhoy1965

“Basically saying it’s done but nothing is official until it’s official. Buzzing we are getting him”

@AMC_88

“That’s not very medical completed”

@petmorr67

“What he means is he hasn’t completed the medical yet but once he does he’ll sign these things are said all the time in football I reckon he’ll be announced today”

@sellik10

“Literally meaning Celtic will still offer way less than required and he won’t be coming”

@JamesHe02455518

“Officially every player in world football does transfer until the “documents are signed” sounds like he’s disappointed to lose him IMO”

@news_donegal

Looking at the replies to this post, it seems as though these comments from Yarovinsky have made some Celtic fans think the signing won’t be happening, whereas others think Starfelt will be revealed as a Celtic player soon.

Are you confident Celtic will sign Starfelt this summer?

Yes

Yes

No

No

In our view, it seems as though there is still some negotiating to be done and business to take care of before the reported transfer can be revealed and made official by the Parkhead club.

Given how the club have already signed a handful of new players this summer and appear to have plans to sign Starfelt too, this says to us that the club are well into a big overhaul of the squad, which makes sense to us given how far they fell behind Rangers at the top of the SPFL table last season.
