Dave Azzopardi has been speaking on the latest uploaded on the Talking Wolves YouTube channel to discuss all things transfer-related.

One report which Azzopardi discussed was Atletico Madrid apparent interest in Nelson Semedo’s situation at Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Should Wolves sell Semedo this summer?

The claim comes with Manchester United said to be interested in Atleti’s current starting right-back, Kieran Trippier.

Semedo has previous experience in La Liga having racked up 82 appearances in the top flight with Barcelona (via Transfermarkt).

Discussing the reported transfer claims, Azzopardi had the following to say on the matter.

“It remains to be seen whether Atletico would probably pay the money that Wolves would want. You’d imagine Wolves would at least want their money back that they paid for Nelson Semedo.

“Would he fit into [Diego] Simeone’s style of play? Quite a defensive-minded manager, counter-attacking I suppose, but Semedo is a very attacking full-back.

“So I’m not too sure if that would work, but maybe one for us to keep our eye on.”

TIF Thoughts on the transfer claims…

Semedo only joined Wolves last summer in a deal believed to be worth in the region of £27m after the Molineux club sold to Hotspur earlier in the window.

The Portuguese ace did not exactly bed straight into life in the Premier League in what was a pretty underwhelming first campaign at Molineux, which saw him return one goal and one assist in the Premier League (via Transfermarkt).

If Atletico are to sell Trippier and then come in for Semedo, then it could offer the Wanderers an opportunity to offload the right-back if they do not feel he will be able to adapt to the English game in the near future – but whether they would be willing to let go of a first-teamer this close to the season’s kick-off is another matter.
