Football journalist Dean Jones has been sharing his thoughts on the possibility of West Ham United winger Jarrod Bowen potentially leaving the east London club this summer.

This comes after Jones made an appearance on a recent edition of Touchline Talk where he spoke about a variety of transfer-related topics going around at the moment.

Who scored the opening goal in Liverpool's 4-3 win over Leeds United at Anfield in September?

After it was recently reported that fellow Premier League side Liverpool apparently have Bowen on their transfer shortlist, Jones had this to say about the player and a potential West Ham exit.

He said: “It’s a strange one because I think Jarrod Bowen was doing well and he was on a good trajectory, really, at West Ham in terms of the platform they were giving him and the impact he was having.

“So, you do risk that momentum starting to slow down if you’re not getting the game time that you would want and he’s obviously not going to be a starter if he goes [to Liverpool], so we’ll see.

“We’ll have to see whether this can even open up, because as I say, I really don’t think West Ham are going to be in much mood to listen to any offers.”

Bowen joined West Ham back in the 2020 January transfer window from Championship side Hull City for a fee of £19.17 million.

Since then, the 24-year-old, who is currently valued at £27 million, has made 53 appearances for David Moyes’ side in which he has managed to score nine goals and provide 10 assists in the process (per Transfermarkt).

TIF Thoughts on Dean Jones’ comments on Bowen…

Given how Bowen made an appearance in every single one of West Ham’s Premier League games last season, this should put to bed any doubts there may be about his importance to the team.

Do you think Jarrod Bowen is West Ham's best winger?

No

In our view, West Ham shouldn’t be thinking about letting Bowen leave the club anytime soon as it would just leave them with Said Benrahma, Xande Silva and Andriy Yarmolenko in their squad as their prominent wingers.

Also, even though the Englishman’s current contract at the London Stadium isn’t set to expire until 2025, perhaps it wouldn’t hurt the club to remind Bowen and reassure him of just how important he is to them – although whether Liverpool would be prepared to potentially overpay for the winger without guaranteeing him a starting place would surely cast doubt over any possible move.
