Speaking exclusively to This Is Futbol, former Southampton midfielder Carlton Palmer believes Danny Ings and Son Heung-min could strike up an effective partnership at Tottenham.

Changes could be coming to Spurs’ attack this season, with Harry Kane’s future at the club uncertain and Ings said to be of interest.

According to The Athletic, Manchester City are determined to sign the England captain, while the Evening Standard are reporting that his compatriot is Tottenham’s top transfer target.

Would Son and Ings be a good attack?

Meanwhile, the north London outfit have confirmed that Son has signed a new four-year deal at the club.

Ultimately, for Palmer, Son and Ings have the potential to strike up a similar partnership to that of the 29-year-old and Kane’s if the latter does end up leaving this summer.

“If it’s Danny Ings, then that relationship could still work because Danny Ings is used to playing up front on his own and dropping into those areas,” the ex-Southampton man told TIF. “That could be a situation that works.

“I think Son still goes on and does well for Spurs. He is a very, very, very good player.”

Nothing has really been said about Son potentially leaving before the start of the new season so, new contract or not, Spurs should at least still be able to call upon their South Korean forward.
