Many Sheffield Wednesday fans have turned to Twitter to react to some positive news surrounding the club’s financial problems of late.

This news comes from Sheffield Wednesday writer for Yorkshire Live, Dom Howson, who revealed that the Owls will pay the rest of the wages owed to players this week and that the club is also ‘close’ to ‘submitting last season’s accounts’ to the EFL.

Wednesday fans have been reacting in numbers to Howson’s news…

“Sad state of affairs when submitting your accounts and paying employees their wages are classed as positive news, last time I checked that’s a very basic requirement for a business”

“That’s a sad reflection on the state of our club that this is reported as positive news. Positive news would be 5 or 6 new signings.”

It appears there are mixed reactions amongst the responses, with many fans happy that this is finally being sorted, but also annoyed that things like this are being referred to as positive news when it should be a ‘basic requirement’ for a business such as Sheffield Wednesday Football Club.

This comes after an extremely tough season for the club last year, with the Owls being relegated from the Championship into League One having received a points deduction during the season and then following the conclusion of the campaign, it was reported that players were considering handing their notice in, with the club yet to pay their players wages.
