Fabrizio Romano has been speaking on Matt Hayes’ YouTube channel to discuss all things transfer related to Tottenham Hotspur.

The north London club’s search for their next permanent manager continues with a reported deal for Paulo Fonseca understood to have fallen through last week.

Would you like Ernesto Valverde as the next manager at Spurs?

Reports have emerged over the last month of Spurs being in talks with a range of managers and the latest to have reportedly fallen through was Paulo Fonseca.

One name which has been recently linked with the vacant role is Ernesto Valverde, and the Italian journalist had the following to say on Tottenham’s approach for the Spaniard.

He said: “From what I know, yesterday night I tweeted that they approached Ernesto Valverde and people close to him.

“Because I’m told that they had some contact, they were discussing him as a candidate also before going for Paulo Fonseca.

“So he’s always been in the air, not public because it was not in the news about Ernesto Valverde as a candidate, but they talked with him and with people close to him.”

TIF Thoughts on Tottenham’s manager search…

Spurs have now been without a permanent manager since April when Jose Mourinho was shown the exit door by Daniel Levy.

It was originally claimed Levy had hoped to appoint a manager before the end of the season, then it was pushed back to within 10 days of the campaign ending and so on and so on.

The transfer market has since opened and Spurs’ expected rebuild is yet to get off the ground as they appear to be no closer to finding their replacement for Mourinho.

With tensions already at an all-time high with the board, this is surely only making the club’s relationship with the fans worse?
