Former Manchester United man Keith Gillespie believes Mason Greenwood is well on his way to being an elite attacker.

The young forward has enjoyed his breakthrough at United in recent seasons and is now one of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s key attackers.

The 19-year-old remains a versatile presence who has made a total of 105 appearances for United already, with the majority coming off the right wing.

In that time, he has scored 29 goals and laid on 10 assists for United, with last term bringing 12 goals from 52 games.

Gillespie believes that he did not score as many goals as he would have liked in 2020/21, but thinks he is developing into a proper prospect at the club, and thinks he can become a “top player”.

Speaking exclusively to This Is Futbol, he said: “I don’t know about the best in the world but certainly he can be a top, top player.

“He’s still very young, very hungry, I wouldn’t say he’s had the best of seasons, he probably hasn’t scored as many goals as he would have liked but he’s really coming to the fore now.”

Greenwood’s form this season has seen him miss out on England’s Euro 2020 squad but he will hope to keep scoring goals in 2021/22 next term.
