Former Bournemouth star Harry Arter has recently delivered a vote of confidence to Eddie Howe, who is close to being appointed as the Celtic boss.

Howe is reportedly set to be appointed as the next Celtic boss, as the Englishman has agreed a deal to sign for the Hoops. The ex-Bournemouth boss is currently said to be assembling his staff for the Parkhead job (As per TalkSport).

Arter made an appearance on the latest episode of the OTB Football podcast and he talked about Howe, offering some insight into his methods and coaching ideas. The former Bournemouth midfielder also offered his vote of confidence to Howe, saying that he will be successful at Parkhead.

Will Eddie Howe be successful at Celtic?

No

No

Arter is currently plying his trade with Championship side Nottingham Forest, but the midfielder spent as many as nine years at Bournemouth and he left the club permanently in 2020. He played a total of 200 games under Howe.

The Republic of Ireland international feels that Howe can manage the pressures at Celtic well and he’ll stay honest to himself too.

He stated (44:29): “I don’t think it’ll affect him at all. The one thing that I know about Eddie is that he has an identity and a philosophy when it comes to the football side of things. And when it comes to your interviews and handling the media as you say – so calm, just honestly, he’s just an honest man and he will tell you what he sees and what he feels.

“So I feel he will definitely stick to that going into Celtic and with that, he will be able to deal with it because he will stay completely honest to himself.

“And I believe he’ll be successful. Of course, if he isn’t successful, then as you say, the pressures that he probably didn’t face at Bournemouth would definitely be a lot more extreme at Celtic. And it would be something that he’d have to learn to deal with.

“I’m confident that he’ll be able to do it and that I know he will stay honest to himself, he’ll be honest with his players. And as a player, that’s all you can ask for. And as fans really all you want is your manager to stay true to what he believes and what he says.”

TIF Thoughts on Howe to Celtic…

While Howe did take Bournemouth from the lower divisions to the Premier League, he will have to get to grips with playing European football and competing for trophies regularly at Celtic.

There will be the pressure of getting back to winning ways as well, considering that the Hoops haven’t had a great season by any means. They failed to win the league and failed to impress in European competition as well (As per Transfermarkt).

So while there will be a considerable amount of burden on him, Howe is still experienced at various levels of the game and if given time, he might be able to bring glory back to Celtic.
