The RB Leipzig midfielder has been heavily linked with a move to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and also rejected a new contract from the Bundesliga side earlier this year.
The 27-year-old has scored seven goals in the Bundesliga this season, which would make him Tottenham’s fourth-top league goalscorer, and Pinder thinks that Sabitzer is similar to former Tottenham star Christian Eriksen.
He said: “I think he’d bring a lot to Tottenham. He’s very similar to Christian Eriksen, he’s that sort of player that Spurs have been missing in midfield.
“During his time at Leipzig, Sabitzer played much further forward, but this season he’s played deeper, been creating from deep but with that, he’s very versatile, whether it’s central midfield, attacking midfield, winger, he’s even played striker this season, so I think for Spurs he’d be an excellent signing.
“I think he’d slot straight into that starting XI, and alongside players like Hojbjerg, I think that partnership could be a decent pairing in the middle.”
Do you think Sabitzer can be like Eriksen?
TIF Thoughts on Sabitzer…
Given that Eriksen scored 69 goals and provided 90 assists in 305 appearances for Spurs, you would think that if Sabitzer, who is valued at £37.8 million (as per Transfermarkt), could be anything like that, Tottenham would be landing themselves a brilliant signing.
However, there are other clubs interested in the Austrian, and it will be interesting to see if Spurs can put a deal together for Sabitzer or if he will end up somewhere else.
If Tottenham do sign him, then it seems like he could be an exciting addition.
