Newcastle United fans have been reacting to an intriguing tweet from their winger Allan Saint-Maximin.

The 24-year-old, valued at £25.2m on Transfermarkt, hasn’t had the greatest of seasons for Steve Bruce’s men, only managing to grab three goals and five assists for the year so far, although that was hampered slightly by two rather big injuries.

To kick things off, which season is this kit from?

However, it’s not what’s happening on the pitch that seems to be concerning him right now, perhaps helped by Newcastle being more or less safe when it comes to their Premier League status and the good run of form that they’ve been on since April. Instead, he seems to be taking issue with how commentators pronounce his name, as he posted this rather bizarre tweet and video seemingly mocking those who can’t say it properly.

This led to a number of responses from Newcastle fans who couldn’t contain themselves at the Frenchman’s post:

“I love this man”

“Legend”
“To stop the confusion they can just call you the goat”
“Have a thought for Charles Insomnia & Yohan Kebab. Think yourself lucky Joe Kinnear is long gone”
“It’s much easier to just say ‘Genius’!”
“We’ll just call you God”
“Banger tweet”

Do you think Saint-Maximin has been a bargain?

Let’s see how many commentators and pundits spend the summer rehearsing how to say it now that he has prompted them in this manner.
