West Bromwich Albion journalist Joe Masi has been sharing some news concerning on-loan Baggies striker Mbaye Diagne and his future.

This comes after Masi co-hosted the latest episode of West Brom-themed podcast Baggies Broadcast where he spoke about a range of topics concerning the Midlands club.

Nice easy one to start off with, who currently sits top of the table?

On the subject of Diagne, who is currently on loan from Turkish club Galatasaray until the end of the season, Masi had this to say about the likelihood of him remaining at The Hawthorns beyond his current deal.

He said: “Mbaye Diagne’s highly unlikely to be at Albion next season.

“Well, Allardyce said the club can’t afford him so he won’t be at the club next season if we’re being honest.

“[I’m] 95% sure he won’t be at the club next season.”

Since arriving at the Midlands club, the 29-year-old, who is currently valued at £2.7 million, has gone on to make 15 appearances for the Baggies in the Premier League in which he has managed to score three goals and provide two assists in the process, prior to the club’s midweek league showdown against West Ham United.

TIF Thoughts on Joe Masi’s comments on Diagne and his future…

Despite the striker managing to pick up a handful of goals and assists during the time he’s been at the club, it’s clear that his efforts and the efforts of the rest of his teammates were not enough to save West Brom from relegation back to the Championship, which is where they will be next season.

Had he and Sam Allardyce joined earlier in the season, perhaps it would have been a different story for West Brom.

Moving forward, it seems very likely now that Diagne will not be a part of West Brom’s squad for their Championship campaign next season.

However, with the Baggies having the likes of Karlan Grant, Hal Robson-Kanu and Callum Robinson in their current squad that play in the centre-forward position, they seem well-stocked in that regard moving into next season even if Diagne does leave as expected.
