Frank McAvennie has exclusively told This is Futbol that linking up with Zlatan Ibrahimovic could be a turning point in Odsonne Edouard’s career.
The French striker has been Celtic’s talisman in recent seasons, although widespread reports believe that a move away from the Scottish Premiership is on the cards this summer.
Should Celtic sell Edouard this summer?
Yes
No
As well as both Arsenal and Leicester, another of his potential destinations could be AC Milan, who are looking to bring in another striker to partner the Swedish legendary frontman.
Edouard, who missed a second-half penalty in Celtic’s Old Firm defeat at Rangers on Sunday, is out of contract next summer, with some reports suggesting that he could leave Glasgow for as little as £8m.
And whilst McAvennie believes that Edouard has the world at his feet, following the the striker’s inconsistencies this term, he thinks that Ibrahimovic’s influence could be timely for the Frenchman’s career.
“If he went to AC Milan, Zlatan would get hold of him, that might be the best thing that could happen to Eddie,” told This is Futbol.
“He’s at the top of the tree, Zlatan has been there for years – he did it with Pogba at Manchester United. Pogba didn’t do anything wrong when Zlatan was at Man United because they were pals and he kept him under control.
“It would be great if Eddie went to AC Milan because he would be learning from the best and he would teach him you can’t play when you want, you’ve got to play every game. Zlatan is old school and he would let him know. I personally think the boy can go all the way to the top because I know how good he is.”
