Celtic pundit Kevin McCluskey has recently delivered a claim about Leigh Griffiths and his situation at the club.

While Griffiths has been linked with a move away from Parkhead in recent weeks, McCluskey delivered a rather damning verdict about the Scotsman on the latest episode of the ‘A Celtic State of Mind’ podcast.

The podcaster is of the opinion that Griffiths doesn’t have a future at Celtic anymore and wants the Hoops to give Albian Ajeti a chance in the remaining few games of the Premiership campaign.

Is Griffiths set to leave in the summer?

Griffiths’ current deal at Celtic runs out in the summer of 2022, but it has been suggested that the Hoops could release him in the summer. In that case, Aberdeen could be interested and Hibernian would want him back too.

McCluskey talked about his situation and said: “I think he’s had a lot of chances and I don’t see him having a big future at Celtic anymore.

“I’ll be inclined to having him as a sub, as an impact sub for the last 20 minutes. But Ajeti is the boy that we spent the big money on – same as Barkas. So you’ve got to give him these last four games to try and prove that he was worth that money.”

TIF Thoughts on Griffiths…

Griffiths’ fitness issues have come up constantly over the last few seasons and Neil Lennon had criticised the Scotsman for a lack of fitness earlier in the campaign.

His game time had diminished in the current campaign and he hasn’t made as much of an impact for the Bhoys. His value has been decreasing over the last few months and those aren’t great signs for the Hoops.

It would perhaps, therefore, be best for Celtic to part ways with him considering the above factors and potentially replace him in the summer.
