Celtic fans have been reacting on Twitter after a post provided an update on the links to former Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe.

Interim manager John Kennedy has been in charge of the Hoops since Neil Lennon resigned back in February with the Hoops 18 points off the top of the table.

Several high-profile names have been rumoured to replace the Northern Irishman at Parkhead, including Roy Keane, Chris Wilder and Roberto Martinez, however, according to The Scottish Sun, Howe has now become the ‘leading contender’.

The report states that the 43-year-old is ‘seriously interested’ in taking over the Glasgow giants and has already started carrying out his own ‘due diligence’ into how the club is run behind the scenes, news that excited the Celtic supporters.

“Howe to Celtic would be a good move. He was my preference back in November. I’m just not so sure why he would be moving now. As far as I’m aware we approached him in November and he knocked us back — was he waiting on an English gig?”

Howe enjoyed an extremely successful spell on the south coast with the Cherries, taking them from League One to the Premier League in seven seasons before departing the Vitality Stadium following their relegation in 2019/20.
