Fans of Celtic have taken to Twitter to criticise the performance of the Hoops’ left-back, Diego Laxalt, in the Bhoys’ Scottish Cup last-16 fixture on Sunday.
Since joining Celtic on a season-long loan deal from AC Milan last October, Laxalt has been in rather uninspiring form over his 17 Scottish Premiership appearances for John Kennedy’s side, averaging a WhoScored match rating of 6.82 – ranking the defender as the club’s 18th-best performer in the Scottish top flight.
And, after Kennedy opted to start Laxalt against Rangers in the Scottish Cup last-16 fixture on Sunday, fans of Celtic appeared far from happy with the performance of the 28-year-old, with many taking to Twitter to vent their anger at the display of the AC Milan loanee.
Should Celtic look to make Laxalt's loan a permanent move this summer?
So, what exactly did these Celtic fans have to say about Diego Laxalt’s performance?
“You forgot about Laxalt, the worst Celtic player in 20+ years.”
“I don’t think Taylor is the best LB, but Jesus, Laxalt just literally can’t defend its madness.”
“Just tell Laxalt to head straight to Glasgow airport.”
“Laxalt and Kenny are rotten, man.”
“Subbed at half time for Greg Taylor, Laxalt may as well hang up his boots and become a full-time Fortnite streamer.”
“May Laxalt never wear a Celtic jersey again…”
All in all, it would appear these Celtic fans feel that Laxalt is nowhere near good enough for their club, and, considering the left-back was hooked at half time against Rangers, as well the fact he has hardly been in show-stopping form since arriving at Parkhead last year, it is not difficult to understand why.
