Many Newcastle United fans have responded on Facebook to a post by The Chronicle suggesting a few players which the Magpies may pursue this summer in the transfer window.

The article by The Chronicle suggested Mike Ashley will look at free agents this summer with Kyle Bartley, John Lundstram and Andros Townsend highlighted as three potential targets.

Townsend was a Newcastle player only a matter of years ago after leaving Tyneside in 2016 to join Crystal Palace in a deal believed to be worth in the region of £14m.

Newcastle signed Jeff Hendrick and Ryan Fraser as free agents last summer, but it appears the Toon Army were not impressed by the latest list of names linked to the club ahead of the summer.

The Magpies find themselves still flirting with relegation after their draw with Tottenham Hotspur in their game at St. James’ Park on Sunday afternoon, which may have Ashley concerned financially ahead of the transfer window.

However, their fans seem far from amused by the names being linked with a summer move to Tyneside with many questioning the ambition of the club going off their reported shortlist.
