Many Newcastle United fans have responded on Twitter to an article by The Chronicle reminiscing on some comments Jose Mourinho made about the Tyneside club in the past.
The Tottenham Hotspur boss will travel to Newcastle next weekend as Spurs face the Magpies in their first Premier League game back following the international break.
In the past, Mourinho has spoken of his admiration for Newcastle due to his links to the late Sir Bobby Robson in which he branded himself “a little Magpie“.
The Toon currently find themselves flirting with relegation and in response to the article by journalist Mark Douglas, which highlighted Mourinho’s tentative links to Newcastle, many voiced their wishes for the 58-year-old to one day manage their club.
“Feels like destiny for Josè to end up at NUFC. It’s the perfect match. He’ll be absolutely adored, his ego will love it & he’ll revel in the ‘us against the world’ mentality. Mourinho with a city United behind him will be a force of nature again. Make this happen”
Would you like to see Mourinho manage NUFC?
Yes
No
Following their humiliating 3-0 defeat on the south coast to Brighton & Hove Albion, the Magpies now sit just two points off 18th-placed Fulham with only nine games remaining of the 2020/21 season.
All in all, many of the Newcastle fans would love to see Mourinho on their touchline, the majority view it to be highly unlikely and the Spurs man is still tied down to another two years in his contract with the London club.
