Newcastle United fans on Twitter have been responding to the latest news concerning current Toon manager Steve Bruce.
This comes after Newcastle-focused Twitter account @NUFC360 shared a post on their page relaying news originally published in an article for The Telegraph from Luke Edwards.
The article claims that the Tyneside club could offer Bruce a new contract if he keeps the club in the Premier League by the end of this current season.
This post then gathered a lot of replies from Toon fans who were not shy in sharing their thoughts and feelings on this latest report.
So, what did these Newcastle fans have to say in response to this latest news concerning Bruce?
“Nooooooooooooo”
“That is the craziest thing I have ever heard in 38 years of following football.”
“He gets a new contract I bin my shirt”
“I feel sick.”
“Gets worse every week #Nufc”
“It’s a lose-lose season.”
Looking at the replies to this post, it’s very clear to see that these Newcastle fans would not want to see Bruce sign a new deal at St. James’ Park and continue as their manager, with some even preferring relegation to having Bruce in charge.
Which scenario seems more appealing?
Relegation and Bruce leaves
Avoid relegation but Bruce stays
With Newcastle only two points ahead of the relegation zone entering the final stretch of league fixtures, it seems that spending next season in the Championship could well become a reality unless Bruce manages to help the team pick up enough points to avoid the drop.
In our view, given how much of a disappointing season Newcastle have had under Bruce in terms of their league results, the club shouldn’t be looking at giving Bruce a new contract.
