Phil Hay has been speaking on the latest edition of The Athletic’s The Phil Hay Show about all things relating to Leeds United.

Starting with an easy one who is Leeds United's top Premier League goalscorer this season?

One of the topics that he spent some time on was the Whites’ potential summer transfer plans.

Leeds spent just under £100m in the last summer transfer window, and Hay expects less to be spent, but after the season the Whites have had, he thinks that with the right signings, Leeds could make some significant improvements next season.

He said: “There’s a real vibrancy about Leeds and a real freshness to the team and I think that is why again, this window is so crucial because it’s about accentuating that without going to the lengths in terms of expenditure that they did in the summer window before this season started.

“They just need to keep getting better, and I don’t think this window will be an outright spectacular one, but again, if they get it right, they will be better for it.”

Do you think Leeds will spend big in this transfer window?

TIF Thoughts on Leeds’ transfer plans…

The Whites’ latest financial results showed that the club had lost a huge amount of money because of the pandemic, so we would be surprised if Leeds did spend a lot of money this summer.

Signings such as Raphinha have been inspired, and we will be interested to see what the Whites come up with in the next transfer window.

However, given that they were newly promoted, Leeds have had a brilliant season, and with five games still to play, they could finish with well over 50 points, which would be some achievement.

The current squad have proved that they are more than capable of competing in the Premier League, and we think, like Hay, that they only have to make a few additions ahead of the next campaign.
