Many Leeds United fans have been reacting to comments made by Marcelo Bielsa about utility man Stuart Dallas.
The 30-year-old Dallas, barring two injury spells, has been a pretty much ever-present part in Bielsa’s side at Elland Road since the Argentinian took over in 2018, and has shown incredible versatility by playing in multiple positions along the way. And it’s that versatility that has earned the Northern Irish international high praise from his boss, with Bielsa saying the following this week in an interview with Sky Sports:
“He reminds me of Javier Zanetti [whom he managed with the Argentina national side] and Julio Saldaña, someone I managed at Newell’s Old Boys in my first managerial experience. They were very alike Dallas in terms of their versatility.”
Praise that becomes all the more impressive when you consider what Zanetti has won during his career and his standing within the game, which is why there were so many Leeds fans that were delighted to see the comparison when Bielsa’s words were relayed to them by @LUFCDATA:
“Huge compliment for Zanetti that.”
Is Stuart Dallas still underrated?
Yes
No
If only he could just end up with a trophy haul at Leeds that would match what Zanetti did at Inter, then that might get Dallas more recognition beyond the Elland Road faithful.
