Former Everton striker Marcus Bent has exclusively told This is Futbol that Carlo Ancelotti’s reputation could see his former side set for a summer spending spree.
Ancelotti’s team are within touching-distance of the top-six, although their chances of playing in Europe were hit by a four-match winless run, including the goalless draw with Brighton that left the Toffees eighth.
Do Everton miss Doucoure?
Yes, we need him
No, we are fine without him
Everton faced another crucial clash against Tottenham, the side directly above them, on Friday night, and Bent believes that Ancelotti’s stature could see the Goodison Park outfit attract some big names.
Juventus star Paulo Dybala has already been touted as a potential addition, whilst Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly is reportedly Ancelotti’s number one target.
Last summer, Everton added the likes of James Rodriguez, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Allan to their midfield ranks, and Bent has hinted at another busy window on the blue half of Merseyside.
“They’ve got some great players. They just need a couple of additions,” Bent told This is Futbol.
“Are they going to spend money? I think with the manager at the minute, it’s not his own team, Carlo. But from what I hear from the Everton camp and stadium, lots of players want to sign for him.
“He’s a good man-manager, he’s a good coach, he can put his arm around you when you need it. He’s been there, he’s done it. He’s managed some of the biggest teams and players in the world. I think next year, especially with the stadium coming that’ll be a refreshment.”
