Newcastle United supporters have been reacting to the latest revelation regarding Matt Ritchie on Twitter

The 31-year-old winger had a training ground row with manager Steve Bruce last week, where the former Bournemouth man reportedly called his boss a ‘coward’ during a heated exchange.

It was an unwelcome distraction for Bruce heading into Sunday’s crucial clash with West Brom, with the St. James’ Park outfit under serious threat of relegation.

The former Birmingham City and Aston Villa boss has come under constant scrutiny by the Magpies supporters throughout the campaign due to their poor results and uninspiring displays, and the ongoing Ritchie drama is threatening to escalate even further.

According to The Atheltic, Ritchie had cleared his locker in January and said his goodbyes to fellow plays and staff believing a transfer was set to happen, something that has only added fuel to the fire on this particular debate:

“Should have been sold”

@SellersTonys

“It’s a shame as he is probably the only player that plays with passion alongside miggy. He might not be the greatest of players but he gives everything for this club and it’s seriously a shame that the manager is driving him out the club.”

@OnlyOneOrmy

“Yeh and Schar was sitting at Newcastle airport waiting to go Roma before Newcastle pulled the plug last min. The club is a joke.”

@Darrylfletche10

“Ritchie knows he isn’t wanted, Longstaffs falling out with Bruce, brilliant morale.”

@agbnufc_

“I wish Bruce was emptying his locker right now!”

@BrowellPeter

“Our club is an absolute disgrace”

@Eski_Boi

It’s been a tough time for Newcastle supporters under the ownership of Mike Ashley in recent years, and relegation this season would be the third under his tenure.
