Leeds United fans on Twitter have been responding to a recent social media post concerning on-loan Whites midfielder Alfie McCalmont.

This comes after Leeds journalist Graham Smyth recently shared a post on his official Twitter account saying that things “couldn’t be going much more to plan” for the midfielder during his time on loan at Oldham Athletic in terms of the goals he’s scored for the League Two side.

Leeds have had some odd players over the last ten years but how well do you remember them. Starting with the most recent one, who is this?

Smyth also added that it’s “reassuring that he can do it in the men’s game too, having navigated the step up well,” from youth level with Leeds’ U23 side.

This post then gathered a lot of replies from Leeds fans who were quick to share their thoughts on the youngster and Smyth’s assessment of his time with Oldham so far.

So, what did these Leeds fans have to say in response to Smyth’s Twitter post about McCalmont?

“looks to be having a good season”

@colinpbrooks

“Championship next. Follow Ben White’s trajectory.”

@OooahhBerardi

“Gonna be a future baller for us I think”

@stevemaher34

@drasnah

“Should be loaned to a championship club in the summerso if he can make another step up.”

@John1919Wakelam

“Class goal as well”

@ronaallleeds

“McAlmont, Bogusz and Shackleton; all 3 CM’s could be in the first team in 3 years and all still be under 24, nice.”

@Adventu02457903

Since arriving at Oldham, McCalmont has managed to score six goals in 26 league games for the club.

Looking at the replies to Smyth’s post from this group of Leeds fans, it’s clear to see that they are hopeful that McCalmont can continue on with his progress at Oldham and then move on to maybe one day become a regular member of the Leeds senior squad when the time is right.
