Leeds United supporters have flocked to a post on Twitter after Ezgjan Alioski posted a picture of himself in training while on international duty.

The North Macedonia international caused controversy amongst the Leeds fanbase earlier in the week after reports linking him to bitter rivals Galatasaray emerged.

Galatasaray are hated by supporters of the West Yorkshire outfit after two travelling fans were stabbed to death by supporters of the Turkish giants prior to a UEFA Cup semi-final clash in 2000.

Understandably, the events are still felt at Elland Road, and it’s considered an act of betrayal to play for Gala once you have represented the Whites by many – a fact the 29-year-old was reminded of:

“Don’t come back”

@mjmlufc

“Judas”

@bxnsharp_

“Don’t come back your not welcome in Leeds anymore”

@kennylufc1

“Get out of my club”

@M_Hoysty

“@ezgjanalioski seriously, Galatasaray? Did your time at Leeds with the fans who adored you, mean nothing. Anyone but them and Man U”
“Anyone but them Gjanni.”

Alioski is out of contract in the summer and is looked for a club to continue his career with, so it’s hard to begrudge him for wanting to move to a club the size of Galatasaray. However, the history between the two clubs makes it understandable why some Leeds supporters are unhappy with his proposed departure.
