Celtic fans have been reacting to news about Frank Lampard and his role in the club’s search for a new manager.

The club are in the need for a new man in the dugout following the resignation of Neil Lennon earlier today, and already there has been talk of who could be his long-term replacement, but it looks like ex-Chelsea boss Lampard will not be in the running.

According to Football Insider, the 42-year-old is set to keep his name out of the discussion, not just at Celtic Park but any jobs that come up for the foreseeable future as he looks to ‘recharge his batteries’ following his departure from Stamford Bridge earlier this season.

This news was relayed to fans on the Read Celtic Facebook page to much relief it has to be said, as there didn’t seem to be much of an appetite for him to take the job in the first place:

Do you want Lampard to replace Neil Lennon?

Yes

Yes

No

No

So any and all jokes about Lampard and Rangers boss Steven Gerrard working together in the same city and comparing it to their playing days might need to be rethought for the time being.
