Plenty of Celtic supporters have raised concerns over the Hoops players’ fitness levels, despite their 1-0 win at the weekend.
It was the ideal start in charge for Kennedy, as Odsonne Edouard’s deflected goal after just six minutes saw Celtic pick up the three points against Aberdeen to somewhat close the massive gap between themselves and runaway league-leaders Rangers.
Speaking in his post-match press conference, Kennedy highlighted his squad’s lack of fitness levels as something that needs to be worked on, although the interim boss stated that their schedule is what resulted in a subdued second-half showing.
“The energy levels started to go a bit in the second-half, and that’s just a culmination of the week that the boys have been through.”
A number of Celtic supporters took to social media to react to Kennedy’s comments on the player’s fitness at this moment in time.
Take a look at the best of the reaction from Twitter below….
“Fitness is clearly a big concern. What’s been going on in training and in terms of expectations of how players look after themselves?”
“Some of these players are on £50k a week but they still aren’t fit.”
“I personally thought a very poor performance not entertaining, that is what you call winning ugly. Boring, boring.”
“Nice to hear an honest interview. However, I’m disappointed that half of this team apparently have fitness problems.”
“For goodness sake they only have to play 90 minutes max.”
“Stress. Try using that excuse after certain games looming on the horizon.”
“It’s just a breath of fresh air hearing different insight after the game now.”
“Refreshing to see Kennedy giving a realistic assessment of the game rather than just claiming his team were excellent when it clearly wasn’t the case.”
“Honestly impressed with his post match interview. Professional but didn’t shy away from goings on this week. Very matter of fact.”
