Journalist Matt Davies-Adams has recently discussed the current mood surrounding Wolverhampton Wanderers following their win against Chorley.

During the FA Cup fourth round, on Friday, the Old Gold travelled to Victory Park to take on the non-league side and a goal from Vitinha sealed a 1-0 win (per BBC).

The victory was their first win in three matches, having not been on the right end of a scoreline since the FA Cup third round against Crystal Palace (per Transfermarkt).

In the league, Nuno Espirito Santo’s side has only managed to pick up one win in their previous nine Premier League outings.

During the latest episode of The Totally Football Show, Davies-Adams discussed Wolves’ win against Chorley and the current mood surrounding the Midlands club. (35:52)

To kick off this quiz on Romain Saiss, what squad number does the defensive midfielder currently wear for the Old Gold?

He said: “On Wolves, I thought the goal, or the reaction to it at least, kind of summed up the general malaise around them at the moment.

“Vitinha, first goal in senior football, absolute beaut and he looked like he couldn’t have been less impressed and it wasn’t like he was mobbed by his teammates.

“Normally, Nuno’s up and down, berating his players, getting in the fourth official’s ear, cajoling his team and he looks so passive at the moment.

“The whole setup at Wolves just feels a bit flat and a bit, ‘It’s not quite as good as last season, is it?’ It’s really odd how it just seems to have dipped like that.”

TIF Thoughts on what Matt Davies-Adams said about the mood at Wolves…

As can be seen in what the journalist had to say, he believes that it is “really odd” how “flat” the mood is surrounding the Molineux club at the moment.

Are you worried about the current mood surrounding Wolves?

However, perhaps it is harsh to judge Vitinha and the Old Gold based on the Portuguese midfielder’s lack of celebration against Chorley due to the gulf between them.

During the FA Cup third round, Tottenham Hotspur’s Carlos Vinicius was mocked for his celebration during their victory against non-league Marine (per football.london).

So, perhaps Vitinha was avoiding the same criticism being levied at him.
