Southampton podcaster Glen de la Cour has been sharing his praise for Saints midfielder Ibrahima Diallo and his performance during the club’s recent 1-0 win over Arsenal in the FA Cup.

This comes after De la Cour recently made an appearance on the Total Saints Podcast where he spoke about a number of topics concerning Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side.

Who scored Southampton's first goal of the season?

On the subject of the club’s FA Cup win over Arsenal at the weekend, De la Cour had this to say on Diallo’s display in the match. (17.47)

He said: “Whether it’s by accident or by design, we seem to have ended up with a really, really promising player who seems to have everything.

“He seems to be able to play in that deep line number six role as Ralph calls it but he also looks like he can also be that box-to-box midfielder as well, if he’s partnered with [Oriol] Romeu, you could see him being the one who goes forward, not that I think James Ward-Prowse is going to get dropped anytime soon, but yeah, he seems to be a good all-round player.”

Southampton signed Diallo back in October from French club Stade Brest 29 for a fee of £13.5 million.

Since arriving at the club, the 21-year-old, who is currently valued at £13.5 million, has made 11 appearances for Southampton, prior to their Premier League clash against Arsenal in midweek.

TIF Thoughts on Glen de la Cour’s comments on Diallo…

Given how Diallo managed to earn himself a respectable match rating of 6.76/10 for his performance against Arsenal and pick up a passing accuracy percentage of 88.5%, the highest of any Southampton player in the game, it’s understandable why De la Cour was impressed with Diallo.
