Fans of Newcastle United have taken to Twitter to criticise the performance of Magpies centre-forward, Joelinton.

Since arriving at Newcastle from TSG Hoffenheim in what was a £39.6 million deal back in the summer of 2019, Joelinton has, prior to the Arsenal fixture, gone on to feature 65 times for the club, scoring seven goals and providing seven assists along the way.

Starting with an easy one, how much did Joelinton cost Newcastle when he swapped Hoffenheim for Tyneside?

So far this season, the £18 million-rated 24-year-old has made 15 appearances in the Premier League, scoring one goal and providing two assists, while averaging a WhoScored match rating of 6.86 – ranking him as the club’s fifth-best player in the top flight.

However, after being selected to start for Steve Bruce’s side against Arsenal on Monday, it would appear that fans of the club were far from pleased with the striker’s performance in the match, with many taking to Twitter to make their feelings known.

Should Newcastle sell Joelinton?

So, what exactly did these Newcastle United fans have to say about Joelinton’s performance against Arsenal?

Joelinton literally offers nothing. Lewis is also so poor. Like playing with 9 men #NUFC”

“Have we ever bought worse than Joelinton?”

Joelinton has to come off soon. He’s been absent so far, we look really poor down the left. #ARSNEW”

“Joelinton hasn’t even broken out into a sweat”

Just saw Joelinton on the pitch and genuinely had forgotten he was playing. 40 million! #NUFC”

“No one can defend Joelinton no more he’s not good enough can’t see what he brings to the team”

“Joelinton worst player on the pitch. Absolute garbage”

“Joelinton is the worst player I’ve ever seen in a NUFC shirt in my 39 years!”

All in all, it would appear that the vast majority of these Newcastle fans have had enough of Joelinton at their club, with many stating their belief that the centre-forward isn’t good enough, while some even went as far to say that he is the worst player they have ever seen in the black and white of Newcastle.

They have a fair point as the attacker only managed a poor 4/10 (Independent) for his efforts.
