Lots of Leeds United fans have been responding to a tweet that was recently posted by The Athletic’s Phil Hay which relayed Whites manager Marcelo Bielsa’s latest comments on Ezgjan Alioski.
Alioski’s Leeds United contract is set to expire at the end of the season and the £3.6m-rated man has been linked with a move to Galatasaray.
The 28-year-old’s future was one topic that Bielsa touched on during his latest press conference and per Hay, the Argentinian said: “Most important is that he wants to stay. I think that if Alioski chooses Leeds, Leeds will choose Alioski.”
The journalist’s tweet sharing Bielsa’s comments has caught many Whites fans’ attention.
So, how have these Leeds United fans been reacting to Hay’s tweet?
From what Bielsa said, it certainly seems as though the option of staying at Elland Road is on the table for Alioski but the 28-year-old is yet to sign a new deal, so does that indicate that he’s still unsure about extending his stay at the Yorkshire club?
It seems like plenty of Leeds fans think that may be the case, as Hay’s tweet drew a concerned reaction from plenty of Whites supporters.
“dont let him leave”
“oh dear me”
“I would actually be gutted if he leaves, he doesn’t stop and actually is Leeds.”
“Bielsa likes Alioskis work ethic, he’s a work horse. Never a bad player to have in a squad, even just as cover. I read this as we’ve made him his offer it’s up to him.”
“I like Alioski, his passion and unpredictability. He’s learning at this level, as most of the squad are, but we shouldn’t let anyone go unless we have better at the club, or lined up. Our squad is light enough.”
Do you want Alioski to get a new deal at Leeds?
YES
NO
“Its not time for Alioski to leave Leeds just yet. He is regularly starting in the first team and always fit. Who’s covering his position if he’s gone? Dallas? If so whos covering the positions Dallas plays in? Squad isn’t big enough,if he leave he will be missed all season”
“@ezgjanalioski Gjanni sign contract extension with us, You are Leeds and you know you are @andrearadri, never let him leave, he belongs here”
All in all, it’s clear that these Leeds fans want Alioski to stay at their club – though it may be worth pointing out that is in contrast to some who wouldn’t mind him leaving following the reports linking him with a move to Turkey.
It will be interesting to see whether or not Leeds’ director of football Victor Orta ultimately tables a strong enough offer to convince the North Macedonia international to stay at Elland Road.
