Many Celtic fans have been talking about a tweet involving Neil Lennon that recently emerged on social media.

The club’s tweet involved Lennon and what he told the media ahead of Celtic’s Europa League game against Sparta Prague.

Lennon said that the Hoops have lost just one league game this year and this is a better start to the season than it was two seasons ago, when they had won the treble. He urged for everyone to ‘put a sense of perspective’ around the club’s current form.

Is Lennon right to compare this season to the 2018/19 season?

Which club did Brown join Celtic from?

Celtic fan group The Green Brigade have already unveiled a banner outside Parkhead, demanding the exit of Lennon. Their statement claims that while he has delivered a lot of success to the club in the past few years, that shouldn’t be an ‘excuse’ for the club’s current form (as per the Daily Record).

The Hoops were held to a 2-2 draw by Hibernian recently. While they did beat Motherwell before that, they were held to a draw by Aberdeen and had lost the Old Firm derby (as per Transfermarkt).

Some other Celtic fans also began talking about Lennon’s comments.

These Celtic fans believe that what happened two seasons ago isn’t relevant now and Lennon is ignoring Celtic’s results in Europe.

It was Brendan Rodgers who was in-charge at Parkhead two seasons ago. On top of that, there was never a point in the 2018/19 season when the Hoops had won just a single league game in four outings.

More so, the Hoops are yet to win a single game in the group stage of the Europa League this season. In the 2018/19 campaign, Rodgers’ Celtic had beaten Rosenborg in the first game of the group stage of the competition.

This clearly shows that these two aren’t similar scenarios at all and Lennon is wrong to compare them.
