On the latest episode of the Last Word On Spurs podcast, Ricky Sacks, Lee McQueen, Chris Cowlin and Richard Cracknell provided immediate reaction to the Lilywhites’ 2-1 win against Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday night.

One topic of conversation on the recent episode, which was titled ‘Bale Wins It‘, was Spurs midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. The Danish international has been a regular in Jose Mourinho’s side since joining from Southampton in the summer transfer window, having made 12 appearances in all competitions so far this season. The 25-year-old produced another solid display in the win against Brighton, picking up a 6.92/10 rating for his performance.

How well can you remember Spurs' season so far? 1. Who is Spurs' top scorer in all competitions so far this season?

McQueen was the first to sing his praises during the podcast, saying:

“I just think that Hojbjerg, the guy is different level for me. He’s had one bad game for us, which was the Everton game and we lost that game 1-0 – other than that, I think he’s been absolutely outstanding. Hojbjerg has been an 8/10 every game, other than the Everton game, or [against Royal] Antwerp, although he came on, but everyone was below a five in Antwerp.”

Cowlin then added his thoughts on the former Bayern Munich man, saying:

“[He’s] such a strong individual, [he has] real leadership quality. We saw him [as the] captain of Southampton, he’s come to Tottenham, I think he’s a real missing piece of the jigsaw that we haven’t had for a very, very long time. I absolutely love him, I think he’s going to be a future captain at Tottenham, definitely. I think he will walk through brick walls for whatever team he’s playing for and I think he’s a real leader on the pitch, and I think he’s just giving so much confidence to everyone playing around him. I’m a real fan of him.”

TIF Thoughts on McQueen and Cowlin’s praise of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg…

Hojbjerg certainly seems to have won over a lot of Spurs fans since his move from Southampton during the summer and has already seemingly established himself as a key player in Mourinho’s midfield, as he picked up the club’s Man of the Match award for his performance against Brighton.

If he can continue his recent fine form for Spurs, perhaps we could see him become the captain of the club in the future, as Cowlin suggests.
