Many Newcastle United supporters have flocked to social media in order to respond to a Twitter post from Luke Edwards of The Telegraph.
Following the NCSL’s (Newcastle Consortium Supporters Ltd) Letter Before Action, addressed to the Premier League, after asking for an extension of 14 days, the league have finally responded with a nine-page document (as per The Shields Gazette).
According to Edwards, the legal challenge put forward by NCSL is ‘flawed’ and they would have to show they were ‘directly damaged’ by the failed purchase of the club. The journalist also says the group are in no position to claim damages on behalf of the football club or Mike Ashley for that matter.
How have these Newcastle United supporters reacted to Luke Edwards’ update?
Well it’s a good thing the club itself (that can prove direct damage) has its own lawsuit, eh?

You are so negative, I don’t know why they pay you to report on Newcastle United when you clearly dislike the club as much as the fans dislike you.

Maybe we should let the courts decide. At least the @premierleague breached confidentiality enough to confirm that nufc are taking legal action anyway. They essentially told @NCSL1892 to get in the queue in their 9 page response

Do you fear the Premier League will win this legal battle?
Yes
No
Luke, Ben Jacobs and the PL/Bein press gang all getting together again to push the PL side of the story once more.
And yet some people still think he’s impartial!

It’s clear from the above responses that many of these Newcastle United fans don’t see this as a major issue given that the Premier League have confirmed the club are also taking legal action against them with regards to this matter.
Despite Luke Edwards’ report regarding the strength of NCSL’s legal challenge, you could be forgiven for thinking there is still going to be plenty more twists and turns in this saga before a solution is reached.
