Phil Hay has been speaking on the latest edition of The Athletic’s The Phil Hay Show about all things relating to Leeds United.

Starting with an easy one what shirt number does Bamford wear for Leeds United?

One of the topics that he spent some time on was the latest injury and fitness updates ahead of the Whites’ clash with Everton.

One player who will not feature in that match is Jamie Shackleton, who is out with a quad injury and has not played since he was substituted at half time in Leeds’ 4-1 defeat to Leicester City.

Hay relayed an update on Shackleton from Marcelo Bielsa, as well as the latest news on Pablo Hernandez and Diego Llorente.

He said: “Injuries are much the same: Llorente – still out; Hernandez – still out; Shackleton – still out.

“I don’t think any of these injuries are serious, but at the moment, we are not really getting any clear timescale on when they are likely to ease.

“So, it’s going to be much the same as it was [against Arsenal].

Do you think Leeds will miss Shackleton?

No, we don't need him

Yes, he is a good squad player

It seems, therefore, that despite Leeds’ injury list, Bielsa and supporters can look forward to the relatively swift returns of these players currently on the treatment table.

TIF Thoughts on Jamie Shackleton and Leeds’ injury situation…

Before this injury, Shackleton had made two substitute appearances for the Whites as well as his one Premier League start.

The 21-year-old has averaged a poor rating of 6.3/10 in those appearances, making him Leeds’ fourth-worst player in the Premier League this season (as per WhoScored).

However, he is highly thought of by the Whites and has played 52 games under Bielsa, so when he is fit, he could certainly be staking his claim for a place in the first-team squad.

Though, we think that given his low-key performances in the league this season, the Whites are unlikely to miss him too much against the Toffees considering he has not featured in that many games so far this term.
