Celtic have secured themselves a place in the 2020/21 UEFA Europa League group stages after a 70th-minute goal from Odsonne Edouard sealed a 1-0 win for the Glasgow-based side in their Europa League qualification playoff clash with FK Sarajevo on Thursday evening.
As per the BBC, Ryan Christie, who was on the pitch for 86 minutes of the game, provided the assist for Edouard’s match-winning goal.
However, plenty of Hoops supporters were quite critical of the 25-year-old’s performance in this game, with some Celtic fans taking to Twitter to slam the £5.85m-rated attacking midfielder.
I’m sick of Ryan Christie

Tonight was the night I realised Ryan Christie will never be as good as/better than peak Tom Rogic was. pic.twitter.com/LxemsNQhgO

Christie is currently the Hoops’ top assist provider in all competitions for the 2020/21 season, so perhaps it isn’t a massive surprise that he added to his assists tally in Thursday’s game.
However, his impressive playmaking performances this term didn’t stop these Celtic supporters from slating his performance versus Sarajevo.
Ryan Christie is the subuttio player who always kicks it out the park cos he thinks he’s zidane

I’d like to see Celtic leave Christie in Bosnia

Don’t think a Celtic player has ever wound me up as much as Ryan Christie does

Do you think Christie played badly versus Sarajevo?
YES
NO
Considering that Christie has been enjoying some impressive form this season and knowing that he ended up providing the assist for the Glasgow-based club’s only goal in this game, we feel these Hoops fans were somewhat harsh in their criticism of the playmaker.
Hopefully, for Christie, he can keep up his impressive form and perhaps win these Hoops fans over as the season progresses.
However, the player has been linked with a move to Premier League Burnley of late and back in July, his father was quoted as saying that the 25-year-old “could play at that level,” when discussing how his son would fare in England’s top flight.
So, it will be interesting to see if the attacking midfielder does depart Parkhead before the Premier League’s international transfer deadline on 5th October.
