Leeds United podcaster Ben Stead has been sharing his thoughts on a potential Whites transfer move for Norwich City midfielder Todd Cantwell.
This comes after Stead recently made an appearance on Leeds-themed podcast Talking Shutt where he spoke about a number of topics concerning the Yorkshire club.
After it was recently reported that Leeds have ‘launched a move’ for Cantwell and that the two clubs are ‘in talks over a deal’ for the Englishman, Stead shared his thoughts on the player and this potential move.
He said: “I’m just not sold on him whatsoever, as a footballer, as a character.
“He’s clearly got talent and there’s been big clubs named to be after him, the likes of Tottenham [Hotspur] and even [Manchester] City at some point.
“The fees [were being touted] for around £40/50/60 million, whatever, but there’s just something about him and I can’t quite put my finger on it, he’s like a poor man’s Jack Grealish for me.”
Cantwell made his senior debut for Norwich back in January 2018 when he was 19-years-old.
Since then, the Englishman has gone on to make 70 appearances for Daniel Farke’s side in which he has managed to score eight goals and provide four assists along the way (per Transfermarkt).
The midfielder, who is currently valued at £18 million, made 37 appearances for Norwich in their 2019/20 Premier League campaign in which he earned himself a season rating of 6.59/10 (per WhoScored).

Given how unimpressive Cantwell was for Norwich in the Premier League last season, it’s no surprise that Stead is not particularly excited by the idea of Leeds making a move for him.
With the current summer transfer window set to close next week, it’ll be interesting to see if Leeds manage to sign Cantwell or not before then.
