Many Celtic fans have been fuming at Kris Commons after he recently made comments about the upcoming Old Firm derby.
In his column for the Daily Mail (via the Daily Record), Commons wrote that the fact that the Old Firm will be played behind closed doors will not do Celtic any favours and this environment will act as a leveller in the tie.
Commons believes that Celtic will have to find a ‘different way’ of winning the game and the Hoops players will have to look for inner motivation as fans won’t be there to cheer them on.
A tweet about these comments was relayed on Twitter by the Daily Record. It caught the attention of many Celtic fans and they made their anger clear about Commons and his comments.
Should be banned from entering Celtic park

Celtic are currently second in the Premiership and the Gers occupy the top spot, but the Hoops have a game in hand and are just a single point behind their Old Firm rivals (as per BBC Sport).
While a win in the upcoming tie will see Celtic overtake Rangers in the table, Neil Lennon’s men played the Gers three times in all competitions last season. Celtic won twice and this included the League Cup final (as per Transfermarkt).
Some other Celtic fans were also fuming at what Commons had to say.
Ronny Deila will forever be held in a higher regard than you, Kris.
You are not welcome back. https://t.co/HW1yvNydnE

Celtic haven’t lost a single Premiership game this season but they were held to a 1-1 draw by Kilmarnock earlier in the campaign. They’ve also made it to the group stages of the Europa League, having won their qualifying games of the competition (as per Transfermarkt).
This shows that Celtic are in good form and while the Old Firm will indeed be played behind closed doors, the Hoops have managed to remain unbeaten in the league even though the rest of the games were played without a crowd too.
So, it remains to be seen if the lack of an atmosphere has any impact in the Old Firm derby or not. Celtic fans can only hope that they win the game and prove to Commons that the Hoops can beat Rangers even without a crowd.
