Celtic pundit Paul John Dykes has recently made a claim about Ryan Christie and his current situation at Parkhead.

Dykes was hosting the latest episode of the ‘A Celtic State of Mind’ podcast and the panel discussed multiple issues involving Celtic. One topic of discussion was Christie. Dykes believes that there hasn’t been a game in which he doesn’t look interested but he seemed a bit concerned by the fact that the Scotsman didn’t celebrate one of Celtic’s goals against St. Johnstone recently.

Christie has been an important player for the Bhoys this season and has directly contributed to ten goals in 13 appearances in all competitions. In the Premiership, he has scored two goals and has provided five assists (as per Transfermarkt).

Dykes did express a bit of concern about Christie but he believes that it doesn’t look like the midfielder is disinterested.

He said: “Sometimes, people look at him as being a prima donna. I’ve heard that said. Yes, a lot of his passes go astray, but if you focus on them, it is taking the shine off all the good work that he’s doing. And again, his participation was positive in the game [on Sunday].

“I don’t think there’s ever been a game where it looks as though he’s not interested. He didn’t celebrate the goal – doesn’t mean to say he’s not interested. It could well have been a professionalism [thing] where the game’s not finished yet, we still need to obviously see it through but it was a wee bit concerning because of the timing.”

TIF Thoughts…

Christie was linked with a move to Burnley and it was reported that Sean Dyche has been monitoring his progress. The report also claimed that discussions are currently ongoing regarding the Scotsman’s contract extension at Parkhead (as per the Daily Record).

Will Christie leave Celtic next summer?

He has been the club’s second-best performer in the Premiership this season and it shows how important he is for the Hoops. Because of that, they arguably can’t afford to lose Christie and keeping him at the club should be a priority for Celtic in the future.
