Pundit Peter Martin hosted the latest episode of PLZ Soccer’s The Football Show, during which the panel discussed multiple issues involving Scottish football, one being Odsonne Edouard and his current situation at Celtic, with Martin sharing some criticism for how the Frenchman has performed for the club in recent games.

Edouard did feature for the Hoops in their recent 3-0 win over Hibernian but he played only 53 minutes of the game.

A week before that game, he didn’t play against Livingston but he has featured in six of the Hoops’ eight Premiership games so far this season (as per Transfermarkt).

Which player played the highest number of minutes in all competitions for Celtic in the 2019/20 season?

During this recent episode of PLZ Soccer’s The Football Show, Martin shared that he believes that Edouard has been “lethargic” in recent games and he doesn’t look like the player that he was last season.

The pundit said: “Some Celtic fans certainly don’t even like criticism of their star man but he’s not at it, I’ve watched him.

“If he’s the Edouard of last year, then I’m gobsmacked because he looks lethargic at times, off the pace, trying to beat men – loses the ball. It is not the man that we witnessed last season.”

TIF Thoughts…

This season, Edouard has managed to find the back of the net five times in all competitions and he has scored four times in the Premiership.

He scored a hat-trick in the club’s clash with Hamilton Academical in the first game of the current league campaign (as per Transfermarkt).

The Frenchman did produce a disappointing performance against Hibernian as he earned a WhoScored rating of just 6.63.

Meanwhile, against St. Mirren earlier this month, Edouard picked up an even worse rating of 6.32 despite playing 80 minutes of the tie (as per WhoScored).

So, Edouard clearly hasn’t been at his best in his last few games and it is understandable why Martin was critical of his recent performances.
