Former Wolverhampton Wanderers goalkeeper Matt Murray has recently discussed the club’s young defender Max Kilman.

The 23-year-old centre-back has been with the Old Gold since he was signed from Maidenhead United during the summer of 2018 (per Transfermarkt).

Since signing for Wolves, the centre-back has made 13 first-team appearances for the club in which he has neither scored nor assisted.

Four of those appearances were during the 2019/20 Premier League campaign, during which he earned a solid 6.87/10 average rating which made him Wolves’ 12th-best performer (per WhoScored).

In the latest episode of The Athletic’s The Molineux View podcast, Murray made an appearance and discussed his thoughts on Kilman.

To kick off this quiz on Joao Moutinho, what squad number does the midfielder currently wear for Wolves?

He said: “Hopefully he gets a run in the team, because I think he deserves it. Every time he steps in, I think he gives that natural balance with his left foot.

“He hasn’t been allowed out on loan, so, yeah, I’d like to see Max [play], because in the [under-23s], he was decent [at] finishing from set-pieces, to be fair.”

TIF Thoughts…

As can be seen in what Murray had to say, he clearly would like to see Kilman given a run in the starting XI by Nuno Espirito Santo.

Would you like to see Max Kilman given a run in Wolves' starting lineup?

No, he's not that good

No, he's not that good

Yes, he's a good player

Yes, he's a good player

So far this season, Kilman has made one appearance in the Premier League and perhaps it is clear to see from that why the former goalkeeper would like to see him involved more.

The 23-year-old defender delivered an impressive 7.05/10 performance rating in his appearance against Fulham, which has made him the fourth-best performer in the whole squad this term.

Kilman was able to make two interceptions, five clearances and also maintain a passing success percentage of 92.2%.

So, hopefully, as Murray stated, the young defender is given a run in the side to see if he can deliver a similar performance to what he did against Fulham on a consistent basis.
