Andy Dunn, the Mirror’s chief sports writer, has been discussing West Ham United’s transfer plans ahead of the window’s closure during a recent YouTube video.
Earlier in the window, the Hammers have reportedly seen three bids for Burnley’s James Tarkowski rejected, and when discussing the subject of whether or not he or another centre-back remains a possibility for the east Londoners, here is what Dunn had to say:
“I think they will be maybe a lot keener to get this one over the line or to get a centre-half over the line today, if they can. Obviously, they’ll have succeeded, I think, in one of their main pieces of action in keeping Declan Rice at the club, which I think looks a certainty now, and to do this would be great for them. I think they might give it a go today. Will they get it across the line? I don’t think so, no.”
TIF Thoughts…
The writer predicted that a transfer for Tarkowski at this late stage – essentially leaving Burnley with no time to replace him – is unlikely, but he did feel that may not prevent David Moyes’ side from trying their luck anyway.
The 27-year-old played 38 times for Sean Dyche’s side in the English top flight last season and according to WhoScored.com, his average performance rating was an impressive 7.19/10, therefore, you can understand why the Irons are interested in bringing him to east London.
Would you like to see the club make a late move for James Tarkowski?
Yes
No
However, if the club are to make one more move for the £18m-rated England international, time is running out.
