Aston Villa podcaster Chris Dolan has been singing the praises of Villa defender Ezri Konsa.
This comes after Dolan recently co-hosted the latest episode of The Villa View Podcast to look back on Villa’s 7-2 demolishing of Premier League champions Liverpool at the weekend.
On the subject of Konsa, who played the entire game at Villa Park against Jurgen Klopp’s side, Dolan had this to say on the defender.
He said: “He is phenomenal. I said a few weeks ago – I said I can see him being in that England squad very, very soon because he is outstanding.”
Villa signed the Englishman, who is currently valued at £8.1 million (as per Transfermarkt), in the 2019 summer transfer window from Championship club Brentford in a deal worth a reported £11.97 million.
Overall, the 22-year-old has made 35 appearances for the Villans in which he has managed to grab himself three goals and provide two assists.
Last season, the defender earned himself a fairly underwhelming season rating of 6.47/10 over 25 appearances for Dean Smith’s side in their 2019/20 Premier League campaign (per WhoScored).
During the recent match against Liverpool, Konsa was given a match rating of 6.79 for his performance against the Reds.
In terms of international football, Konsa has made seven appearances for the England U21 side, making his debut back in May 2018.

It’s great to hear this praise Dolan has for Konsa and his belief that the player has what it takes to be included in the senior England squad.
Moving forward, it’ll be interesting to see if England boss Gareth Southgate decides to include Konsa in the senior squad at some point in the future.
