Speaking on a recent episode of The West Ham Way Podcast, @ExWHUemployee discussed the club’s interest in Sheffield United midfielder, John Lundstram.

Since moving to Sheffield United from Oxford United in what was a £504,000 deal back in 2017, Lundstram has gone on to establish himself as an important part of the United side, chipping in with eight goals and providing nine assists over his 94 appearances for the club.

Who did West Ham United face in their opening fixture of the 2020/21 Premier League season?

Last season, the £7.2 million-rated 26-year-old performed admirably for Chris Wilder’s side, scoring five goals and providing three assists over his 34 Premier League appearances, averaging a WhoScored match rating of 6.70 – ranking him as the club’s 12th-best performer in the league.

And, it would appear that his performances have caught the attention of West Ham and David Moyes, as, speaking on a recent episode of The West Ham Way Podcast, @ExWHUemployee revealed that the club could be plotting a move for Lundstram in the January transfer window.

He said: “Lundstram of Sheffield United – he’s just turned down a new deal at Sheffield United. His contract is up in the summer, he is someone that we’ve looked at before. [He’s a] box-to-box midfielder; he was at Everton with David Moyes.

“I don’t think he played under David Moyes because he was young, and I don’t think he’d established himself by the time Moyes had left, but Moyes knows about him, as does [Alan] Irvine, and I think there will be a potential move for him in January.”

TIF Thoughts on @ExWHUemployee’s comments regarding John Lundstram…

From @ExWHUemployee’s comments, it is clear that he is of the belief that West Ham are indeed interested in Lundstram, and that Moyes could have some sort of relationship with the player due to their previous link at Everton.

@ExWHUemployee also stated that he does feel the club will make a move for the 26-year-old in January, so this will certainly be a potential deal we will be keeping a very close eye on as the transfer window draws closer.
