Lee Ryder has been speaking on a recent edition of the Everything is Black and White podcast about all things Newcastle United.

1 of 7

Who will the Toon play in the next round of the Carabao Cup after they beat Newport County on penalties?

One of the topics that he spent some time on was the latest news around the club’s proposed takeover after the Newcastle Consortium Supporters group launched a legal challenge against the Premier League over the takeover.

This led Ryder to discuss various things, and one topic that came up was Jamie Reuben, as he has stepped down from his role on the QPR board.

Jamie Reuben was expected to be part of the new-look Newcastle board should this takeover have happened, and Ryder revealed what role Jamie Reuben was expecting to take if the takeover had gone through.

It seems then that Ryder believes that if the takeover had gone through, Jamie Reuben might have been involved in a battle to become the new face of the Toon.

He said: “He was set to be part of the board at Newcastle had it gone through.

“It would have been interesting to see how the dynamics work, because I think Amanda Staveley wanted to have quite a leading role in this, but then I think PIF had their own people lined up as well.

“So, it could have been a bit of a scramble for who would have been the face of Newcastle.”

Do you think Newcastle will get this new-look board?

TIF Thoughts on Ryder’s view on Jamie Reuben and the rest of the potential board…

The plan for the board in this proposed takeover was that PIF’s Yasir Al-Rumayyan would be the chairman, Amanda Staveley, Jamie Reuben, and Mehrdad Ghodoussi would make up the rest of the board.

So, though Ryder thinks that there could have been a scramble to be the face of the new-look Newcastle, Al-Rumayyan would have been the official chairman.

Of course, with this legal challenge, this could all still happen depending on what happens next, and Jamie Reuben has retweeted the article mentioning the challenge, suggesting that he at least supports it.

We hope for the sake of the Newcastle fans that they get to see this new-look board at some point.
