Many Tottenham Hotspur supporters have been reacting to a Twitter post from @LastWordOnSpurs in which they relayed a report from the Portuguese outlet TVI24 regarding the club’s agreement with Benfica regarding Carlos Vinicius.
The agreement was confirmed by Benfica on Thursday and it is understood to consist of a £2.7m loan fee with an option to buy the player for an additional £38.2m (as per Sky Sports).
Interestingly, TVI24 journalist Rui Pedro Braz (as per Sport Witness, via @LastWordOnSpurs), wonders whether this is the worst deal the club’s president Luis Filipe Vieira has ever agreed.
Following that claim, here is how a sample of the Lilywhites faithful have responded via social media.
Well they did stitch us up first with the Gedson deal, who in their right mind would spend over 40 million for him after this initial loan period, he’s been average at best!
Let’s hope Vinicius is a lot better than Gedson Fernandes ??????— David Green (@greengreeny79) October 1, 2020

Benfica thought they were going to get 100 million euros from us for him and Gedson. Hopefully Carlos does a solid job for us

It’s clear from the above responses that these fans have been impressed with Daniel Levy’s negotiation skills having discovered the terms of the deal that will see striker Carlos Vinicius arrive in North London.
Vinicius played 32 times in the league last season, scoring 18 goals, providing 5 assists and earning an impressive average performance rating of 7.01/10 (as per WhoScored.com).
