Luke Edwards was recently a special guest on the most recent edition of the Everything is Black and White podcast, and he has been talking all things Newcastle United with Mark Douglas and Andrew Musgrove.
One of the topics that the Daily Telegraph reporter spent some time on was the proposed takeover of Newcastle United by PIF, PCP Capital Partners, and the Reuben brothers.
It seems as if Edwards thinks that takeover talk might emerge again because he believes that the people involved in the deal won’t be able to resist the temptation to talk about the potential takeover of the Toon.
He said: “It’s going to start up again, [I] guarantee it, brace yourself, my friends: I think it will fire up again, I would say before Christmas.
“There will be some leaks, I think. Whether it’s going to happen, [I] don’t know. [I] don’t think so, but I think we will see a little wave of takeover stuff start again.
“I don’t think the characters involved can resist it; I don’t think they can stop themselves.”

The proposed takeover of Newcastle by PIF, PCP Capital Partners, and the Reuben brothers was officially withdrawn on the 30th of July after the Premier League failed to make a decision on the deal.
In September, Newcastle announced that the Premier League had officially rejected the offer.
The league denied this, and then Mike Ashley appointed two lawyers to force the takeover through, and that was the last anyone has heard really.
However, Edwards seems to think that the silence won’t last long, and talk will start to emerge again soon though he does not think the deal will go through.
It will be interesting to see if Edwards’ prediction is right.
