George Caulkin of The Athletic has been discussing the latest on the legal battle between Newcastle United and the Premier League during a recent edition of the Pod On The Tyne podcast.
Caulkin joined host Taylor Payne and Chris Waugh on the show and he was asked to provide an update on the situation regarding the legal dispute.
Back in July, the Saudi-backed consortium, led by Amanda Staveley withdrew their interest in purchasing the club from Mike Ashley after lengthy delays with the owners’ and directors’ test caused them to run ‘out of patience’.
Although, according to the journalist, Staveley is still very much on the scene, here is what he had to say on the current status of things:
“It’s now reached a legal element, have Staveley and the group disappeared, gone away forever? No, they’re still very much on the scene and they’re part of what’s happening at the moment.
“Is anything happening on a daily basis? No, it’s just not like that. So, if there is going to be any sort of resolution, we’re talking weeks, weeks, weeks.
“So, are we making a point of not talking about it? No, we’re not doing that on purpose. It’s just that there’s nothing to say.”
Are you confident this dispute will be resolved eventually?
Yes
No
TIF Thoughts…
Although Caulkin didn’t have much to say with regards to the legal battle that is currently taking place, he did suggest this will be a very slow process.
He also ensured it was made clear that Staveley and her associates are very much involved in the ongoing dispute – which perhaps suggests they still maintain an interest in acquiring the club.
